Resin Rock vs Traditional Stone Overlays?

Resin Rock

  • The Origin of Resin Rock comes from the UK in Europe where it has been widely used for the last 20 years and vastly reduced the use of concrete in parts of the UK
  • The Aggregate is crushed marble from Spain that not only comes in varying color, size that is compacted in the troweling process to create a denser surface with flexibility. Applied over cracks and control joints to create a seamless surface.
  • Resin Rock is also permeable allowing water to pass to the lower substrate, reducing slippery surfaces, puddling, and reducing ice sheets in the winter.
  • Resin Rock makes a great waterproof decking systems with the proper waterproofing base installed.

Resin Rock

Resin Rock is renowned for its superior quality and performance in the stone overlay market. Resin Rock products combine premium UV stable-grade resins with carefully selected marble aggregates to create stunning, long-lasting surfaces.

Features:
  • UV Stable
  • Permeable
  • Slip Resistant
  • Low Maintenance
  • Applies existing surface of concrete or asphalt.
  • Applies over cracks and joints
  • Different grades and sizes of aggregate are used to increase the strength and longevity.
  • Difficult for weeds and algae to grow
  • Helps to mitigate the risk of flooding and water pollution.

Traditional Stone

Traditional Stone Overlays use resin to bond stone aggregates together. They have been known to delaminate and be high maintenance with annual re-sealing. The reason for this is the epoxy resin is:

1) The resin is not UV stable and becomes brittle when exposed to the sun, requiring annual re-sealing.

2) The shape of the stone aggregate used in round or oval create fewer contact points resulting in less compaction and contributing to delamination.

While similar in looks the performance of Resin Rock and Traditional Stone Overlays if vastly different.

Rock Crete

What is Rock Crete System by Resin Rock?

Rock Crete take advantage of the permeability in Resin Rock, allowing water to pass through and be absorbed in the ground, reducing runoff and helping to prevent flooding. The concrete is replaced with compacted road base and an additional layer of resin stone and mesh. Rock Crete is just as strong as concrete driveways with the following advantages.

  • Flexible: virtually eliminating cracking.
  • Absorption into the Earth: Rain water is absorbed into the ground reducing the dependency on gutters and storm drains.
  • Property Permeability Requirements: Rock Crete is a great solution for residential areas and cities with permeable ground % requirements.
  • Maximize your property: Permeable ground means more space for that pool, sport court, playground, etc. on your property, while meeting your city requirements.
  • Swimming Pools: Rock Crete around pools eliminates the need for drains.
  • No more Puddles: Rock Crete allows for negative slopes without puddling and pushing water in unwanted areas.
